You'd be better off at the $7.95 Chinese Buffet. Not only is the food here mediocre at best, their practices are morally questionable. Use the menu on line as a guide only. The actual prices in the restaurant are anywhere from $2.00 to $9.00 higher. This seems a bit extreme. Not only that but be sure and check you bill. There were 5 of us celebrating my birthday and the waitress decided to add an 18% gratuity to our bill. Not only did it not state anywhere on the menu that this was restaurant policy but, the hostess advised if they do add a gratuity, it is only for parties of 6 or more. The waitress wanted to assure herself a tip, deserved or not. As we never heard from the manager, as promised, we can only conclude this type of behavior is condoned. There are a lot better places in the area to spend your money. Don't waste it here.

This restaurant used to be very good. On a number of occasions in the past, we had Thanksgiving dinner there, and it was pretty darn good. We went for Thanksgiving dinner again in 2010, and what a change! How can anyone mess up turkey dressing? There was both types of turkey dressings, but they were extremely dry, almost powdery, just no moisture in them at all. It had to be drowned in gravy before it was edible. It was quite apparent the corn was served straight out of the can. How about frozen corn folks, hello - you don't taste the can! On a better note, the salad was good, although there was no Blue Cheese dressing. If you didn't like plain Jane Ranch or vinaigrette, you were SOL. The cold shrimp were delicious, but instead of serving cocktail sauce with it, they served TOMATO PASTE with no seasoning or horseradish in it! Bleh. The roast beef and ham were excellent! No pumpkin pies on the dessert line. Apple pie was okay, but was served ice cold. I tried a piece of red velvet cake, and the icing was actually melting down the sides, I think it had been under a heat lamp in the kitchen. It was the worst experience we have ever had at Hilltop. The surroundings are lovely. It's a shame the quality of the food has reached such lows. I would classify this restaurant now as an All You Can Eat Trough Restaurant with a lovely setting. We may give it another go, but not on a holiday. We used to love going there.

My husband and I had dinner there for the first time recently. We ate dinner at the bar with John the bartender who was a lot of fun. They had a piano player that night and he was awesome. The food was pretty good. We started with the fried green tomatoes which definitely needed to be crispier but still tasty. Then we had the bacon wrapped scallops which were OK, again they seem to be a little undercooked. From there we moved onto one of the evenings specials grouper stuffed with crab topped with she crab soup. It was a little rich for my taste but still the soup was outstanding. My husband got the cowboy ribeye which was delicious. We got a dessert to go. A salted Caramel ganache cake that was amazing. Overall a very nice dining experience but still pricey.

I attended a high school sports award banquet for my nephew here at The Hilltop Club and Restaurant. This is a favorite hidden spot for locals set in a converted Victorian mansion on a hill. The impressive grounds are filled with sparkling water fountains, fragrant flowers, lush green foliage, a festival of trees and percolating ponds with white picket fences and generous parking. The banquet took place in their Grand Ballroom which holds approximately 200 guests. This particular area is rented for $1500 for four hours and the food was served buffet style. The service was smooth as the staff did a great job keeping our sweet teas filled, serving all of the desserts, keeping the coffee pots filled, clearing the tables and efficiently attending to a room full of hungry guests. OK, now think: high school boys, 200 guests & budget. For dinner, we had Italian Baked Ziti and fresh garden salad with a choice of Honey Poppyseed and Ranch dressings served with warm garlic butter rolls. Definitely tasty...just like a meal you would eat in the comfort of your own home. Uncomplicated, yet satisfying. Not gourmet, but solid food and appropriately chosen for this group. Overall, there is no doubt everything about this location is quite charming. I have yet to eat off of the "fine dining" menu so I really cannot comment on the chef's specialties. However, my experiences here so far have been delightful and I look forward to coming back for that special occasion and perhaps try that rack of lamb Monica S. raved about in her review a while back. Any takers? ;)

We visited this establishment last night. Place has a nice bar, guitar/piano player that has been there for 45 years! and was good. Waiters were nice and attentive, food was good and portions were a good size. This is an older establishment that is quiet and picturesque, don't see these around any more. At the time last night there was a wedding going on and it did not interfere with anything in the bar/restaurant area. We will be going back,

I've been wanting to check this place out for the longest and I finally got my opportunity when a friend invited me to her wedding here. The address said Wells Road, but you have to turn on to Cedar Bend Court to get to the entrance. The place is a neat old Victorian style house. I didn't get to explore the outside much due not wanting to be late. Next to the main building is where the wedding was held, in a connecting room that I would assume is the formal dining room. The ceremony was held here as it had been raining all day. The reception was held upstairs in the main building. Make sure you are in fair shape if you have to go upstairs here because there is no elevator and the steps are kinda steep. The reception food was pretty good for the most part. Appetizers included a fruit and cheese/salami tray and spinach dip with pita bread. Nothing fabulous but it hit the spot. Next was the garden salad with honey poppy seed dressing. Again, nothing fabulous. We had a choice of the entree: prime rib or chicken florentine. I chose the prime rib and if was just ok, not enough seasoning on it for me. It tasted like...meat. The roasted potatoes and veggies were good. I kinda wished I had ordered the chicken florentine as that looked like it had flavor but not wanting to offend I ate what I had. This is a nice place to have events but the food doesn't seem to be anything great.

My husband and I ate there yesterday and were VERY disappointed in how the Hilltop has gone downhill. We ate in the main room facing the garden. The place was filthy!! The fans above us were black with dirt and I hoped that none of it landed on our food. Two of the 6 can lights were out, the hanging plants above our heads were full of dead leaves that also were right above our plates and thankfully did not fall into our meals. I do have to say that the waiter was wonderfully attentive to our needs. I had the prime rib which was tasteless. My husband had the stuffed flounder that was very fishy tasting. Granted, the amount of food is very generous, but it could have tasted better. When we went outside for our car, we also noted that the outside lights at the entrance had half of the bulbs out. I know people appreciate the atmosphere here but some attention to cleanliness would be good. I do not think I will be back anytime soon.

Beautiful atmosphere, brilliant food and the service was excellent. Had the mussels as an appetizer and oh my! So good I could have made that my meal. For entrees we had the stuffed flounder and a creamy cajun seafood pasta dish. The seafood pasta was incredible and I will definitely have that again. The flounder was just ok but the stuffing inside was heavenly. Lots of crab with very little bread filler like so many restaurants use to save money. Apparently it is made with the same ingredients as their crabcakes, which makes me want to order them the next time we visit. The kitchen manager took time enough out of his very busy schedule to personally come by our table and ask how we enjoyed our meal. We talked for nearly 10mins. about the menu, how Hilltop is locally owned and how he used to work for Ruth's Chris. That's service you just don't see in chain restaurants nowadays. Thoroughly enjoyed it and will be back soon.

Ruined Anniversary: Undrinkable Mojitos, asshole bartender and amateur meals. The drinks were disgusting. Bartender made such nasty Mojitos. I took them back and he displayed such an aggressive attitude by violently throwing the drinks in the sink. The replacement drinks were equally undrinkable, they were pink with rotten limes! The rest of the meal was totally amateur hour as well. Old-looking Prime Rib, Shrimp sauce that turned into soup underneath everything on the plate and the rack of lamb had burned, crumbling tips. Any amateur learns to cover those tips. The whole experience ruined our anniversary. Hilltop=Rookie Mistakes and Amateur execution.

My wife and I went to hilltop for Valentine's day. It wasn't too bad. The service was OK. The food was pretty good. However towards the end, it started to get very bad with service. We waited 45 minutes to get our check and another 15 minutes to get the receipt. Overall bad experience.

While this is a gorgeous setting, we would not recommend their service or location for a group event/wedding. Several of our items that we had in writing on our contract and had reviewed in multiple planning meetings were ignored the day of our reception. They missed labeling a buffet where we discussed there would be several allergies that this was needed for (including mother-of-the-bride), they had a cash liquor bar when we specifically stated no liquor and no cash bar and had paid only for wine/beer.

This fine dining establishment is great for a special occasion as the setting is the old Victorian mansion set upon, you guess it,...a small little hilltop. We had dinner here for our anniversary and it was simply beautiful. We were in the Formal Dinning Room. It was done in all woods, victorian furnishings and just was GORGEOUS!! I believe they do big events such as weddings here as well. I had the Rack of Lamb here. Delightfully it had a little different flavor as it was glazed in a light cherry and orange demi glace. Yuummy!!! Side veggies were pretty standard and it came with a potato as well. I topped off my meal with an Orange Cheesecake (was going with the orange theme that night), and it was creamy and delish! Next time I am going to try the Banana Foster Martini for dessert as that certainly caught my eye as well!! The service was phenomenal and what I like to call 'elegant appropriate'! Meaning there was no...'hey dude's what's your poison?', kind of dialog. The service and hosting staff is definitely 5 star matching the absolutely gorgeous atmosphere and food. This is definitely a pricey spot, but for an occasional celebration this is an absolutely beautiful dining experience. Dinner for 2 will cost you upwards of $60.00 per person so definitely bring some dough for this date night.

Two of my good friends have had their Sweet Sixteens' here which was cool beans and everything because they were in two different event spaces. With decorations it was nice however I'm really picky about everything and thought the flooring in one of the ballrooms was just AWEFUL. However I thought the buffet style food was good and the caterers were just there to cater and nothing more than that. Would I have my party there? No, but I wouldn't judge you if you had your party there. That's all.

I had a small wedding in the upstairs ballroom and it was the wedding I always dreamed of. The staff was amazing!! I left everything to Chad and boy did he deliver. At the last min our DJ cancelled and Chad even found us another one. Almost a year later and some of our guests are still telling us what a great day it was. The food was fantastic and I feel the price was great. I was hesitant on allowing them to pick the flowers for the table but they were beautiful as well. I cannot recommend them enough especially if you want a stress free day.

This place is beautiful! It's so old-timey feeling and sets you back in a different mindset. The outside garden was set up for a wedding, but from what I saw it was super pretty. The main eating area was very nice and the main floor was split into 3 different rooms. We were there for a surprise birthday party and had the room over to the right rented out and it was carpeted with a nice, subtle lighting. Not going to lie, kind of felt like I was walking through The Haunted Mansion because of how it was decorated and how the restaurant was designed. The main room had wood floors with a bar and a piano, and the other room had glass windows overlooking the garden; by far my favorite room!!! For dinner I ordered the Chicken Sergio and my fiancé had the New York Strip Steak. While we were waiting on those, we got our salad with the best dressing ever and our bread - warm and soft! When our food finally came it was the perfect temperature and had wonderful design. I tried my fiancé's steak (which he seemed to very much enjoy) and it was so good. It was cooked amazingly and was so tender. My chicken was the same, tender and full of flavor. I wish the sauce wasn't so strong, but it didn't break the meal. Last but not least, HUGE portions. I only ate about half of my Chicken Sergio, believe me, I tried. The staff are very friendly and attentive. Always filling up our cups and what not. Very great first impression of this place especially when the pianist started to play! You're mind is in a whole other world when you're eating here and it's great.

My wife and I along with family had dinner there for the first time in many years. The piano player was nice. Our waitress was less than stellar. I ordered the house special which was told to me as fillet stuffed with blue cheese. The steak was tough and overpowered by the blue cheese, my baked potato was undercooked and the zucchini was raw. When the bill arrived I was shocked to see that I was charged $31.95 for what I believed was sirloin. When I asked the waitress about being charged so much for this dish she replied with the answer that she didn't eat meat and didn't know the difference between sirloin and fillet. I will never return!

My husband and I got married here in September of 2014. We had a great time, and the staff helped us move then entire ceremony when it started raining. Everyone we dealt with was super friendly! The only "bad" thing I would say is that the windows of our reception room were dirty...some of our wedding pictures don't look as great because of the dirty glare in the background. But other than that, everything else was great!

Perfect venue for a wedding! (not mine! Lol) The name suggests the nice location, but that's not all this place has. Think old school romantic vibe: big bay windows, lots of private rooms and a ballroom to accommodate parties, a wrap around porch complete with rocking chairs. The mansion is surrounded by lush greenery and colorful flowers, but for prime photo op spot, go to the back of the house like what our wedding party did. The wedding was limited to 120 people which comfortably fit in the ballroom. I'm not sure about the price point for this party size, but we did appreciate having our own bar (open bar too!) and a good sized dance floor. We even had space to set up a mini "photo" area on the corner and the photographer brought her own props (wigs, hats, etc) My only complaint would be the bathrooms: only 2 stalls in the ladies room?! The wait was longer in the bathroom than at the bar area.

My girlfriend and I came here for valentines dinner a few months back and she was amazed. Not exactly parallel comparison, but both of us agreed that the hilltop is superior to even the acclaimed Charthouse and Ruth's Chris restaurants. The venue is amazing despite our not being able to explore the grounds due to the closing time. We were sat in the Garden room (one of many available rooms) adjacent to the main room with bar and piano. We had a great view of their large fountain and could hear the live music flow through the large Victorian mansion. The food was also delightful. For two the meal make perfects sense. They are great to switch around with your partner and share. On valentines day they run a special that includes an appetizer, entrée, soup/salad, and a dessert all for $ 60. Though pricy, it was well worth it; she ordered the lamb (appetizer), mushroom soup, sirloin, and the cheesecake for dessert. She loved all of it (and I did too), and her only complaint was that the soup wasn't what she'd though it'd be, but it was still good. I got the stuffed mushrooms (appetizer), shecrab soup, lobster, and the double chocolate cake. It was also amazing and we both still had some to take home!

It's unfortunate some of these bad reviews I'm reading, My wife and I have been long time customers and since the first time almost three years ago, service and food has always been top notch, and I'm as picky as they get! The Restaurant is full of old charm and squeaks it has couple of lounge areas where you can seat enjoy a cocktail and listen to piano bar, it may not be for everyone and its definitely meant for the more sophisticated older crow. That been said they offered excellent cocktails and a great dinner experience, wait staff goes above and beyond, John the head bartender will make sure of it. Want to enjoy a not so typical dining experience then this maybe the place; prices are reasonable in my opinion. Busy times like Valentines may get a bit crazy can't comment on the Wedding Venue since never been have taken part.
